About
Comet the giraffe astronomer deals a set of star cards with big numbers on them. Students sort the cards by digit count, order look-alike numbers, write numbers up to 999,999 in expanded form, turn number names into digits, and see why a digit one place to the left is worth ten times as much. A Greatest of Them All game, where each digit is placed as it's drawn, closes the lesson. Every direction is narrated, and each wrong answer gets a spoken hint. Built for Grade 4 place value (4.NBT.A.1, 4.NBT.A.2).
