About

A kindergarten counting lesson with Owl. Children count collections up to 10 three ways: touching each one, moving each one across a counting mat, and filling 5-frames. After counting, they pick the picture that shows how they counted, match a friend's words to the way she counted, and choose their own way to count a pile of acorns. Every direction is read aloud, and wrong answers get a spoken hint.

What's included

  • 14 narrated scenes with Owl, played in about 7 minutes
  • 6 counting collections: touch each one, a counting mat, and 5-frames
  • Show-how-you-counted questions with picture cards for each way
  • A choose-your-way branch: count the acorns the way you like

Learning objectives

  • Count a collection of up to 10 by touching each object, with a counting mat, or with 5-frames
  • Choose a way to count, then pick the picture that shows how you counted
  • Match a friend's words about how she counted to a picture of that way
  • Count a mixed-up collection of 10, keeping track and saying the numbers yourself
