Add a Tutorial's Lesson to Your Account

2 min read

Copy the finished lesson from any tutorial into your lessons with one press, then open it in the studio to see how it was built or change it for your class.

Every tutorial builds one real lesson step by step. You don't have to rebuild it yourself to get it: each tutorial has an Add this lesson to my account button that copies the finished lesson into your lessons, pictures and all.

It's useful when you want to:

  • See how it works. Open the copy in the studio and click around: which answer is marked correct, where the paths on the Lesson Graph lead, what each button's behavior does.
  • Skip straight to the activity. If you only wanted the "Which animals are mammals?" question, add it and change the animals.
  • Follow along with a working example open in another tab.

Add a lesson

  1. Open any tutorial. Tutorials with a lesson to add show Ready-made lesson to add on their card in the tutorial library.
  2. Press Add this lesson to my account. You'll find the button under the tutorial's introduction, after its last step, and (on a wide screen) beside the steps. On a phone it reads Add to my lessons.
  3. When it says the lesson is in your lessons, press Open it in the studio, or See all my lessons to find it in your lessons list.

The copy is yours. Change anything, assign it to students, or delete it. Nothing you do changes the tutorial, and the tutorial never changes your copy.

Not signed in yet?

The same button takes you to sign up, which is free. When you're done, Berdee brings you back to the tutorial and points you at the button. It doesn't add the lesson for you: press it once more to add it.

What gets copied

  • Every scene and widget, with the paths, behaviors and scoring the tutorial set up. The copy opens on its first scene.
  • Every picture, copied into your media library. Stock photos keep their photographer's credit.
  • Not copied: the tutorial's screenshots and clips. They're instructions, not part of the lesson.

A tutorial stops when its lesson works, not always when it's ready to publish, so your copy may show a validation issue in the studio. The issues list says what each one needs.

It counts as one of your lessons

A copy is a lesson like any other, so it counts toward your plan's saved-lesson limit. On the Free plan that's 3 lessons. If you're at your limit, the button tells you so and doesn't copy anything: see the plans, or delete a lesson you don't need from your lessons list, then add it again.

Pressing the button again adds a second, separate copy.

Troubleshooting

"This is a student account." Lessons live in teacher accounts. Sign out, then sign in with your teacher account and add the lesson again.

"We couldn't add the lesson." Something went wrong partway, and nothing was saved. Press the button again. If it keeps happening, contact support.

"Your session ended." Sign in again from the card, and it brings you back to the tutorial.
