Sending Feedback
Tell the Berdee team what's broken, confusing or missing, from the app, the website or the help center, and point at the exact part of the screen you mean.
Something not working the way you expect? You can tell us from the page you're on, and point at the exact part of the screen you mean. We read every one.
Open the feedback panel
- In your workspace: click Send feedback in the sidebar, under Help center and Tutorials. On a phone or tablet, open the menu first.
- In the studio: open the ⋯ menu in the top bar and choose Send feedback….
- Inside a dialog: click the small speech-bubble button next to the dialog's close button. The panel opens over the dialog, so you can describe it without closing it.
- On the Berdee website, the help center and tutorials: click Send feedback at the bottom of any page, under Contact. On a help article, it's also right under "Was this article helpful?". You don't need to be signed in.
The panel opens in the corner of the screen with your cursor in the message box. In the studio it sits bottom-left, over the canvas, so it never covers the properties panel. On a phone it slides up from the bottom of the screen.
Write your message
Type what happened, as you'd tell a colleague: "The drawer took a long time to show my images." If you like, pick what kind of feedback it is: Something's broken, An idea, Confusing or Other. It's optional.
Point at something
Click Point at something. The panel steps aside and a bar at the top of the screen reads _Click the part of the page you mean_.
- Move your pointer around. The area under it is highlighted, with its name in a small label, like "Studio › Inspector › Behaviors".
- Press ↑ to select the larger area around it, and ↓ to go back in.
- Click to choose it. Esc cancels.
- Keyboard: press Tab and Shift+Tab to move between areas, then Enter to choose one.
- Touch: tap an area to highlight it, then tap it again (or tap Select this) to choose it.
On the studio canvas, pointing at a widget also tells us which kind of widget it is, for example a Drag & Drop, without sending its name or content.
We take a picture of the area you chose and show it in the panel. You can point at up to 3 areas.
Mark up a picture
Click Mark up under a picture to draw on it. Choose Box or Arrow and drag over the picture, or use the arrow keys to move the crosshair and press Enter at each corner. You can add up to 5 marks, and Undo or Clear them. Click Done to keep your marks.
What we send, and what we hide
Open What we'll send in the panel to see the full list. It includes your message, your account (so we can reply to your account email), the page you were on (without anything after a ? or # in its address), the areas you pointed at, and basic details like your screen size and the app version. In the studio it also includes which lesson, scene and widgets were selected, never their content. To stop spam, we also keep a scrambled copy of your network address, never the address itself.
We keep student information out of every picture:
- Pages about students take no picture at all. On a student's page, a class page or an attempt, you can still point at an area and we get its name, and the panel says "Screenshots are off on pages with student information."
- Everywhere else, student names, emails and avatars are blanked out, like the "Needs attention" list on your dashboard and the students on a lesson's page. So are password and email fields.
If you've turned off tracking in Account Settings, we don't attach your analytics id or a session replay link.
Not signed in?
You can send feedback from the Berdee website, the help center and tutorials without an account, for example if something on the pricing page doesn't add up.
- Add your email if you'd like a reply. It's optional. Leave it blank and your feedback still reaches us; we just can't answer it.
- A quick security check keeps out spam. Most people never see it. If a checkbox appears at the bottom of the panel, tick it, then send. If you see "Please complete the check and try again.", the check didn't finish: wait a moment and click Try again.
- To have feedback you sent without an account deleted, contact us with the email address you gave.
Students can't send feedback from the app or the website. If something in a lesson isn't working, they can tell their teacher, who can send it for them.
Send it
Click Send. You'll see "Sent. Thanks for telling us." and the panel closes. If sending fails, your message stays put: click Try again.
Closing the panel with ✕ keeps your draft until you send it, even if you move to another page. Click Discard to throw it away. If you reload the page, your message and the areas you pointed at come back, but the pictures don't: point again to add them.
Good to know
- Menus can't be pointed at while they're open. Drop-down menus like the studio's ⋯ menu close when you click away. Point at the button that opens the menu instead, and describe what's in it.
- You can send up to 20 pieces of feedback an hour, and up to 5 a minute from one network (a school's shared connection counts as one).
- Every picture goes through the same safety check as images you upload. In the rare case it flags one, we keep your message and leave out only that picture. It never counts against you.
