Finding Marketplace Lessons
Browse, filter, and preview lessons published by other Berdee educators, then bring the ones you want into your own classroom.
The Berdee Marketplace is where educators share interactive lessons with each other. You can browse it without an account, and you can preview a full listing page before deciding to sign in or buy.
What the marketplace is
Every published lesson on the marketplace has its own page with:
- A title, description, and price
- The publisher's preview images, followed by the lesson's opening scene — a picture of the first screen your students will see, taken from the version you would get
- A list of what is included
- The learning objectives the lesson targets
- The publisher who made it
Lessons are either free or priced. Priced lessons use credits — see Buying with credits below.
Browsing without signing in
The public marketplace at /marketplace is open to anyone. You can:
- Read curated rows: editor's picks, newest, free, and rows organized by subject
- Search lessons by title
- Filter by subject (one at a time)
- Toggle to show only free lessons
Each curated row is a single line of lessons. Swipe it, or use the arrow buttons beside its title on a computer, to see more. See all opens the full list a row is drawn from: all the newest lessons, all the free ones, or a subject's own page (editor's picks has no full list). A row that would show exactly the same lessons as a row above it is left out, so you never scroll past the same set twice.
Clicking a lesson opens its full detail page, also public. You can read everything about a listing before committing to anything.
The picture on a listing's card is the publisher's own cover image. A listing without one shows the lesson's opening scene instead.
If you try to use a lesson without an account, you are sent to sign-up with a redirect back to the same listing. You will not lose your place.
Browsing while signed in
After signing in, the marketplace home at /marketplace/home shows you curated rows tailored to you, including a row for your primary classroom grade when one is set. They work like the public rows: one line each, with See all opening that row's lessons on the browse page with the matching filter already applied (newest first, free only, or your grade).
A separate /marketplace/browse page gives you the full filter grid with sorting (newest, popular, price ascending or descending) and richer controls than the public page.
The listing detail page is the same URL whether you are signed in or out. Signed-in educators see an active Buy button instead of the sign-up prompt.
Buying with credits
Priced lessons cost a number of credits, shown next to the price in dollars.
- If you have enough credits, the Buy button opens a short confirmation showing the price, your balance, and the publisher. Confirm, and the lesson is added to your library. A free lesson's button reads Get for free and asks you to confirm the same way, at no cost.
- You're only ever charged the price you confirmed. If the publisher changes the price while you have the page open, nothing is charged: the confirmation shows the new price and asks you to confirm again.
- US sales tax is added in credits at purchase, based on your billing address (100 credits = $1, so 89¢ of tax is 89 credits). The first time you buy, we ask for your state and ZIP code and save them. If the tax leaves you short, the confirmation tells you exactly how many credits you're missing.
- If you are short, the Buy area shows you how many more credits you need and links to the credits page.
- Once licensed, the lesson is yours to use across your classrooms. You will not be charged again to use it.
- If a purchase is refunded, the lesson leaves your library and its page offers Buy again, so you can buy it again later if you want it back.
- Your own listings show Your listing · Manage instead of a Buy button; a publisher can't buy their own lesson.
- A lesson you already have shows Owned · Open in My Library instead, which takes you straight to it.
Finding a lesson you got
Every lesson you buy or get for free lands in two places:
- Lessons in the left sidebar, alongside the lessons you made. It reads Purchased from and the publisher's name under its title, and the Purchased filter shows only the lessons you got from the marketplace. See Your Lessons List.
- My Library, which you reach from the My library button at the top of the Marketplace page. It lists each lesson with the version you're on and the date you got it.
Trying a lesson before you assign it
Open a purchased lesson and click Preview (the play button on its card in Lessons does the same). The lesson plays the way your students will see it, from the first scene to the last, and nothing you do there is saved or scored. You can't open a purchased lesson in Studio or see how it's built: editing stays with the publisher.
Your lessons stay up to date
When a publisher improves a lesson you have licensed — fixes a typo, adds a scene, refreshes a question — you automatically get the latest published version. You never have to re-buy or re-import. The next time you assign it, your students get the publisher's newest work.
Your library entry always points at the most recent published version. There is nothing to update manually.
To assign a purchased lesson, use Assign on its row or card in Lessons, or open the lesson and use its Assignments card. Purchased lessons don't appear in the classroom page's picker, which lists only lessons you made.
Occasionally a lesson's library page shows Temporarily unavailable, and the Assign button is greyed out. This means the publisher is between published versions (for example, they pulled a version to correct an issue and haven't published a replacement yet). Your license is unaffected — the lesson stays in your library, and assigning becomes available again as soon as the publisher publishes a new version.
Units and other collections
Publishers can group related lessons into a collection: a unit, a concept, a topic or a series. A lesson that belongs to one shows a small card on its page, such as "Unit · Lesson 3 of 13", with links to the lessons before and after it and to the whole collection. The marketplace home also has a Units and collections shelf.
A collection's page lists its lessons in the publisher's order, with each lesson's price. When some of them are free, Get all free lessons adds every free one to your account in one click, instead of opening each listing. Lessons with a price are still bought one at a time from their own pages, and the collection's page shows what they cost together. If you aren't signed in yet, the button takes you to sign up first and brings you back to the collection.
Publisher profiles
Each publisher has a public profile at /marketplace/publisher/{slug} showing their bio, website, their collections, and every lesson they have published. The page is reachable both from a listing's publisher card and as a direct URL — useful for sharing a colleague's full catalog.
Sharing listing URLs
Listing detail pages are designed to be share-friendly:
- They have proper titles and descriptions for link previews
- They include an Open Graph image so the listing thumbnail appears in chat and social posts
- They include structured data so search engines surface the price and availability
If a colleague clicks your shared link, they can read everything about the lesson before deciding to sign up.
Reporting and feedback
Signed-in educators can report a listing from the listing detail page if anything looks off — wrong content, broken assets, or other concerns. Reports go to the admin team.
After you buy: lessons keep improving
Marketplace lessons aren't frozen downloads. Once you own one, you automatically get every future improvement the publisher makes, and you can see exactly what changed in the lesson's version history. See Your purchased lessons keep improving.
