Your Lessons List

5 min read

Find, compare, and act on every lesson you own or imported — as a list or as pictures — from one page.

Lessons in the left sidebar opens your library at /lessons. Every lesson you've created, plus every lesson another educator shared with you, is here. You can look at them two ways, and once your library grows you can search and filter it.

Two ways to look at your library

The two buttons at the top right of the page switch between List view and Thumbnail view. Berdee remembers your choice on that device.

  • List view is a table with one row per lesson. It's the best view for comparing: which lesson is earning, which one nobody has been assigned, which one you touched last.
  • Thumbnail view shows each lesson as a card with a picture of its opening scene. It's the best view for recognizing: when you have three lessons called "Fractions review", the picture tells them apart faster than the name does.

Every card can do what a row does. The picture and the title both open the lesson, and the card has the same Assign button, the same Publish button (or your earnings, once it's listed), and the same ⋯ menu.

What each row tells you

ColumnWhat it shows
LessonThe title. Lessons shared with you also show who wrote them.
Subjects & gradesThe tags you've applied. +2 means there are more — hover to read them. Untagged means none yet, which also means the lesson is harder to find in the marketplace.
StudentsHow many of your students currently have this lesson assigned.
RevenueFor a lesson you've listed, what it has earned you. For one you haven't, a link to publish it — Finish listing if you started a listing and never published it. Lessons shared with you, and any listing the platform has paused, show nothing here.
Created / Last editedWhen you made it, and when you last changed it. A lesson you haven't touched since creating it says Never.

On a narrow screen the table drops the columns you can live without: Subjects & grades below a laptop width, Created below a wide desktop. Lesson, Students, Revenue, and Last edited are always there.

In the list, you can also hover over a lesson's name and hold for a second to see a small preview of its opening scene.

How thumbnail view is organized

Lessons are grouped by the day you created them, newest first, under headings like Today, Yesterday, and August 26. Days with only a lesson or two sit side by side, so a quiet week takes a single row instead of a long column of dates.

Once you have 10 or more lessons, a Recently edited section sits above the days with small shortcuts to the four lessons you changed most recently (the two most recent on a phone). Those lessons also stay in their usual place under the day they were created, so nothing moves around while you work. Lessons shared with you never appear there, because their changes are their author's, not yours.

Each card also says when you last edited the lesson and how many students have it assigned, for example Edited Sep 16 · 3 students.

When a lesson has no picture yet

A lesson gets its picture when you save it in Studio, so a lesson you haven't saved there yet shows a plain tile that says No preview yet. Lessons shared with you can show No preview too: the picture only appears when its author has published the lesson and hasn't changed it since. See Lesson Previews for how pictures are made and refreshed.

Finding a lesson

Once your library has 10 lessons, a search and filter bar appears above it, in both views.

  • Search looks at lesson titles, and at who shared a lesson with you. Type more than one word to narrow further: water cycle finds "Water Cycle: A Drop's Journey".
  • Subject and Grade list only the tags you've used. Picking a broad subject also finds lessons tagged with something inside it, so Mathematics also finds your Geometry lessons. A dropdown appears once there are at least two choices in it.
  • The one-tap filters are Untagged, Shared with me, Not assigned, and Not published. Each shows how many lessons it would find, and each appears only when it would actually narrow your list. Untagged and Not published make handy to-do lists before you publish to the marketplace: untagged lessons are harder for other educators to find, and unpublished ones can't earn.

The count on the right tells you how many lessons match, and Clear puts everything back.

Two things work this way on purpose:

  • Your search is still there when you come back. Search, open a lesson, press Back, and the list is still filtered. It starts fresh when you come to Lessons from the sidebar, and it's forgotten when you sign out.
  • A lesson doesn't vanish while you're working on it. If you filter to Untagged and then add tags to a lesson, it stays in the list until you change the filter, so nothing disappears out from under you.

Acting on a lesson

Two actions sit right on each row and card:

  • Assign (the person icon) opens a classroom picker and assigns the lesson to everyone enrolled. If the lesson isn't finished, Berdee tells you what needs fixing rather than assigning something broken — see Assigning Lessons.
  • Publish takes an unlisted lesson to the marketplace; it reads Finish listing when a listing is already started but unpublished. Once listed, this becomes your running earnings total instead.

The ⋯ menu holds the rest:

  • Edit — open the lesson in Studio
  • Assign — same classroom picker as the icon
  • Publish / Edit listing — the marketplace listing
  • Settings — title, description, grades, subjects, frameworks, and look
  • Delete lesson — asks first, and tells you how many students and classes have the lesson assigned. You can restore it for 30 days (see below).

Lessons shared with you show a shorter menu: you can assign them to your own classrooms, but editing, publishing, settings, and deletion stay with the author — see the permission table in Share a Lesson with Another Educator.

Restoring a deleted lesson

Deleted the wrong lesson? Recently deleted (top right of the Lessons page) lists every lesson you deleted in the last 30 days, with the date you deleted it and the last day you can bring it back. Select Restore and the lesson returns to your list exactly as it was: its scenes, its history, its assignments, your students' work, and its marketplace listing.

A restored lesson counts toward your plan's lesson limit again. If you're at the limit, Berdee tells you so and leaves the lesson in Recently deleted: delete a lesson you don't need, or change your plan, then restore it.

After 30 days a lesson leaves Recently deleted. It isn't destroyed, so if you need one back after that, contact Berdee support.
