Use Berdee from ChatGPT or Claude
Connect Berdee to ChatGPT or Claude so your assistant can build and edit lessons in your Berdee library while you chat.
If you already plan lessons with ChatGPT or Claude, you can connect Berdee to it. Then you can say _"Make me a five-scene lesson on equivalent fractions for third grade, with a matching activity and a quiz at the end"_ and the lesson appears in your Berdee library, ready to open in the studio.
The lesson lives in Berdee, under your name. Your assistant does the planning and writing; Berdee builds the lesson, keeps it valid, and saves every change to the lesson's History so you can undo anything.
Connect Berdee
The address to add is:
https://berdee.app/mcp- Claude: in Claude's settings, add a custom connector and paste the address.
- ChatGPT: in ChatGPT's settings, add a connector (in developer mode while Berdee's app listing is pending) and paste the address.
Your assistant then opens a Berdee sign-in page. Sign in with your usual email link. Open the link on the same device you are connecting from, because the connection finishes in that browser.
Next you see what the app is asking for, in plain words: seeing your lessons, editing them, and using your media library (including generating pictures and narration). Choose Allow to finish.
When you connect ChatGPT or Claude, the screen names the app and says where you'll go back to, such as chatgpt.com or claude.ai. Berdee names an app only when it can check where your answer goes.
If the screen says An unverified app wants to connect (or An app on this computer), Berdee can't confirm who made the app. The screen shows the name the app gives itself, and the website you'll be sent to after you allow. Choose Allow only if you started this connection yourself and you recognize that website. If you got the link from someone else, or the website isn't the one you expected, choose Cancel. Nothing is connected.
Only educator accounts can connect. Student accounts can't. An admin account can connect too, but can't open the photo upload link or Settings → Connected apps to disconnect — use an educator account for those.
Consent isn't remembered between connections: if you disconnect and reconnect later, or a host re-authenticates you, you'll see the same Allow screen again.
If ChatGPT or Claude suddenly asks you to connect Berdee again, that can be Berdee protecting your account: when the same sign-in for an app is used twice, which is what happens if someone copied it, Berdee disconnects that app as a precaution. Connect again as above; your lessons are untouched.
What you can ask for
- Build a lesson. Describe it and your assistant creates it with an opening scene, your activities and a closing scene with the score.
- Change a lesson. Rename a scene, add a question, make the quiz worth more points, only let students move on when they pass, switch the theme.
- Style it. Switch themes or make your own colours, fonts and corner shapes; line up, space and tidy widgets; give scenes patterned backgrounds; add text effects and animations. It all works like the studio: anything you styled by hand stays as you set it, and text stays readable. When a theme makes the text bigger or smaller, text boxes and buttons set to Auto resize to fit it. A switch that only changes the font keeps their sizes, so a label in a wider font can run past its button: have your assistant check the scene and fix what it finds. Switching palettes in the studio refits them for you (see Themes and palettes).
- Add pictures and narration. Your assistant can generate a picture, find a free stock photo, or read a scene's script aloud. Generated pictures and narration use your plan's AI and narration allowance.
- Use your own photos. When you want a photo from your phone, a scan, or a picture your assistant made in the chat, it gives you an upload link. Open it (it works on your phone too, so you can take a picture directly), add the files and press Done, then tell your assistant you're done. The files land in your media library.
- Add sound effects. Ask for a sound like "a gentle cow moo" and your assistant makes it, saves it to your media library and can put it in an audio widget. Each sound effect uses one action from your plan's AI allowance, so it needs Plus or Studio Pro.
- Start from a template or a copy. Ask your assistant which starter lessons Berdee has and it can build from one. Or ask for a copy of one of your lessons, like "make a harder copy of Fractions 1 for my other class". The copy is a new lesson, so the original and anything students are working on stay as they are. A copy counts toward your plan's saved-lesson limit.
- Tag it. Your assistant can set a lesson's title, description, grades, subjects and the standards it covers, such as Common Core Mathematics.
- Let your assistant check its work. Your assistant can look at a scene the way a student first sees it and fix what's wrong: text that doesn't fit its box, things that overlap or run off the edge, colours that are hard to read, text that's too small, or a picture that didn't load. Claude can also see a picture of the scene. ChatGPT gets the same list of problems in writing. Pictures are capped at 30 an hour per educator — only asking again for the exact same, unchanged scene is free; fixing something and checking again uses another one, same as checking a new scene. Past the cap, your assistant tells you to try again later.
- Ask how to do something in Berdee. Your assistant can search the help center and answer questions about using Berdee, the same way The Assistant does — handy when you're already chatting with it about a lesson.
- Remove things. Delete scenes, widgets or pictures you don't need. Your assistant asks before deleting. Deleting a whole lesson needs its exact title, and a lesson assigned to students can't be deleted this way.
- Check it. Ask "Is it ready?" to run the same check the studio runs before you assign a lesson. Assigning to students stays in Berdee: open the lesson and assign it as usual.
Lessons your assistant creates count toward your plan's saved-lesson limit, just like lessons you make in the studio. See Plans.
A lesson your assistant made or changed shows its new thumbnail in your lesson library after you open it in the studio.
Everything is in History
Every change an assistant makes is saved as a History entry that reads like "A connected app: Added a matching activity to scene 4". Open the lesson in the studio and use History to see or undo any of it.
If you have the lesson open in the studio while your assistant changes it, the studio tells you the lesson changed elsewhere when you next save, so nothing is overwritten without you knowing.
Disconnect
Go to Settings → Connected apps and choose Disconnect next to the app. That removes its access right away. Disconnecting inside ChatGPT or Claude also works; its access expires within an hour. Closing your Berdee account disconnects every connected app at once.
If your assistant says it wasn't given permission for something, like putting a picture into a lesson, its connection doesn't include editing lessons. Disconnect it, connect again and choose Allow.
Privacy
Your assistant sees your lessons and your media library. It never sees your classrooms or your students' names, answers or grades.
